Network Engineer

Hendrick Automotive Group Charlotte, NC (Onsite) Full-Time
Hendrick Automotive Group Location: 6000 Monroe Rd, Charlotte, North Carolina 28212


Summary: Network Engineer is responsible for maintenance, configuration and installation tasks on the network.  This person will be learning more advanced networking concepts from the network manager and other network engineers, as well as responding to network escalation requests from the support desk. 
 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities however; the candidate must possess excellent project management, strategic thinking and analytical skills and provide leadership and strategic direction to the Hendrick Automotive Group dealerships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties can be assigned.

  • Maintains all components of the Hendrick Automotive Group network including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  •  Responsible for deployment of network equipment to remote sites.
  •  Monitors and reports network status to engineering/management.
  •  Work with telecom provider to order new circuits or make changes to existing lines.
  •  Collaborate with Engineering and Security teams on projects, upgrades and daily maintenance.

Education/Experience:

2 or 4 year degree in a technology field, or 3-5 years experience in technology support. 

Verbal and Writing Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employee.  Should have strong group presentation skills and excellent written communication skills.  Ability to read and interpret complex documents and financial figures.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. The ability to research, analyze and matrix different types of business and demographic data.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.

Attendance Expectations:

The position requires regular and predictable attendance.  Scheduled shifts may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays.

Certificates and Licenses: Valid Driver’s License.

Environment Demands:

Work includes frequent project assignments and interaction with customers, vendors, and company personnel.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and sit. Duties are performed primarily in the office but frequent travel to dealership locations is required. 

Physical Demands:

Duties are performed primarily at a desk in an office environment but will also be required to work throughout the premises.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel. The employee may be required to lift and hold equipment up to 40 lbs. and use simple tools to install or move equipment in a network rack.
