Consolidation Reporting Accountant

Summary: This position will perform consolidation and reporting duties, which includes the compilation of the Company’s financial data and elimination of intercompany activity to produce monthly consolidated financial statements for use by management, bankers and owners.  This position will also perform general accounting close activities such as posting journal entries, performing reconciliations of account balances, and preparing other schedules. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Requirements include the following:

  • Has a minimum of 1 years and up to 3 years of experience in either public accounting or large company industry with direct financial reporting experience
  • Must be extremely detail oriented as liking details and maintaining high levels of accuracy is critical to success in this role
  • Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements, including consolidating dealership, corporate, and real estate/holding company entities into monthly internal and annual audited financial statements for use by management, bankers and owners.  Will be responsible for loading certain companies’ trial balances into HFM, our consolidation software, monthly.
  • Analyze and perform reconciliations of account balances, such as intercompany-related accounts.  Use reconciliations to create adjusting entries to correct out of balance intercompany activity and to eliminate intercompany balances upon consolidation.  Thorough understanding of consolidations and eliminations concepts, as well as the preparation of financial statements is critical.
  • Analyze cash activity and other transactions for real estate/holding companies to record entries needed to produce balance sheet and income statement for those entities.
  • Responsible for tracking long-term debt and reconciling monthly payments within Kyriba, our treasury management software. Will provide support in preparing our long-term debt schedule to support balance sheet classification, footnote disclosures and cash flow presentation.
  • Analyze lease contracts for lease accounting implications and input into our lease accounting software, LeaseQuery.
  • Interact with management and other departments, such as contacting Dealership Accounting for clarification on monthly dealership financial statements and providing support to the Financial Analysis department for the monthly preparation of dealership composites by correcting misstated dealership net income and/or account classifications.  Will provide support to the Tax department as well.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for automation, continuous improvement and standardization and take ownership of implementing those changes.
  • Assist in projects to implement new accounting guidance, integrate new businesses into consolidation, etc.
  • Assist Director of Accounting and other members of the team with the coordination and management of the external audit process
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reporting requests, analyses, and special projects as requested by management

Bachelor in accounting or finance is a must. CPA license is preferred. Approximately 1-3 years of combined accounting experience including public or public/industry accounting. Strong initiative with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge and proficiency in MS Office, specifically MS Excel.  Preference for candidates with Solomon and HFM or OneStream experience.

Communication Skills:

Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with company personnel, and external auditors.

Attendance Expectations:

The position requires regular and predictable attendance.  Hours may include evening hours, weekends, and some holidays to meet required deadlines.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel.

Environment Demands:

Duties are performed primarily at a desk in an office environment but will also be required to work throughout the facility.  Work includes frequent clerical and administrative assignments and interaction with office, employees, and company personnel.

Verbal and Writing Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. Ability to interpret financial reports and spreadsheets.
